Challenge
Client Background
HomeRenoGuru is Singapore’s leading renovation marketplace, connecting homeowners with over 400 trusted interior design firms. With the largest database of over 40,000 design inspirations, it serves as the definitive resource for homeowners navigating the complex renovation journey.
They engaged SOLD Studio on multiple fronts—from revamping their B2C portal to building a dedicated Consumer Mobile App and a comprehensive CRM system for their merchant partners.
Project Role
Our mandate was to overhaul HomeRenoGuru’s digital ecosystem. The legacy platform suffered from disjointed user journeys, making it difficult for homeowners to browse efficiently. We needed to bridge the gap between inspiration and action by creating a seamless, cross-platform experience.
The goal was clear: design a unified system that simplifies the renovation process for consumers while providing robust tools for designers to manage leads and portfolios.
Fragmented Journey
Users often started their journey on desktop but lost context when switching to mobile. The challenge was to consolidate thousands of data points—photos, articles, and reviews—into an intuitive mobile interface that felt native, responsive, and easy to navigate without overwhelming the user.
Trust & Transparency
In an industry often plagued by opacity, building trust was paramount. We needed to design features that highlighted verified reviews, transparent ratings, and clear accreditation. The UI had to signal credibility instantly, positioning HomeRenoGuru not just as a directory, but as a trusted renovation authority.
The
Process
We adopted a rigorous human-centered design approach to tackle the complexity of the platform. By focusing on the user's need for inspiration and reassurance, we crafted a strategy that prioritizes visual storytelling and social proof.
User-Centric Prototyping
We utilized InVision to create high-fidelity prototypes, allowing us to test user flows for key features like the "3D Virtual Showroom" and "Design Gallery". This iterative process allowed us to validate hypotheses with real homeowners, ensuring features were not just novel, but truly useful.
Hybrid Architecture
To manage the massive database of images and merchant data, we opted for a hybrid app framework. This allowed for real-time content updates from the central CMS without requiring frequent app store updates, ensuring users always had access to the latest trends and data.
Atomic Design System
We established a comprehensive design system based on atomic design principles. Modular components were crafted to be reusable across the homeowner app and the backend CRM, ensuring visual consistency and significantly speeding up the development cycle.
The
Solution
The result is a cohesive digital ecosystem where inspiration meets action. The new mobile app offers a seamless discovery experience, allowing users to swipe, save, and inquire with ease, creating a "Pinterest for Renovation" experience tailored for the Singapore market.
Seamless Ecosystem
We successfully integrated the consumer-facing app with the backend CRM. This connection ensures that as soon as a homeowner submits an inquiry, it is instantly routed to the appropriate designer's dashboard, significantly reducing lead response time and improving conversion rates.
Empowering Decisions
By integrating smart filters and verified trust badges, we empowered homeowners to make informed decisions. The revamped interface prioritizes clarity and visual appeal, positioning HomeRenoGuru not just as a directory, but as an essential lifestyle companion for every homeowner.
"SOLD Studio helped us transform our vision into a tangible, user-friendly mobile experience that truly serves our community of homeowners and designers."
