Client Background

With over 22,000 employees and 80 manufacturing facilities and operations in 19 geographical locations, the NIPSEA group is Asia Pacific’s No.1 paint and coatings company in terms of production and sales revenue. As its flagship brand, Nippon Paint is the leading paints and coatings manufacturer brand in Asia and holds the largest consumer market share (over 70%) in Singapore.

Project Role

As part of Nippon Paint’s greater plan to realign digital assets and platforms for the organisation, SOLD were tasked to consolidate, streamline and ensure all digital platforms under the B2B Trade business, are revamped with a consistent branding derived from the brand style guide of the parent Nippon Paint.

Digital Fragmentation

Nippon Paint's digital footprint had grown organically, resulting in a fragmented ecosystem of disparate sites. The challenge was to consolidate these scattered assets into a streamlined, high-performance network that could serve distinct B2B user groups effectively.

Brand Alignment

With a refreshed parent brand style guide, the existing trade platforms felt outdated and disconnected. We needed to realign these functional tools with the modern, premium aesthetic of the master brand without compromising their utilitarian purpose.

Operational Friction

Staff were relying on desktop-bound or manual workflows to manage projects. The challenge was to untether them, creating a mobile-first "Staff Area" that would empower on-the-go project management and real-time updates from the field.

Our approach wasn't just a facelift; it was a foundational audit and restructuring of how Nippon Paint interacts with its trade partners online.

Strategic Discovery

We didn't just redesign; we re-architected. Through deep-dive stakeholder sessions, we identified three critical pillars—Specifiers, Protective Coatings, and Internal Staff—and mapped out distinct user flows to ensure each group reached their goals with minimal friction.

Atomic Design System

To ensure scalability and consistency, we built a comprehensive design system rooted in the new brand guidelines. This library of atomic components allows for rapid deployment of new features while maintaining a unified visual language across all current and future Trade assets.

Human-Centered Architecture

For the Staff Area, we adopted a "mobile-first" philosophy. We simplified complex data entry tasks into intuitive, touch-friendly interfaces, turning administrative burdens into seamless, quick interactions that could be performed with one hand on a job site.

The new Staff Area Dashboard has revolutionized internal operations. By providing a robust, mobile-optimized tool, we've increased field efficiency, allowing staff to update project statuses and manage client needs in real-time.

For industry professionals, the new Specifiers and Protective Coatings sites offer a frictionless experience. Enhanced search, intuitive navigation, and clear information hierarchy mean that finding the right coating solution is now faster and more accurate than ever.
